Serenity is the 2020 Youth of the Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin. She has been a Club member for six years.
Serenity enjoys tutoring other Club members to help them reach their academic goals. While at the Club, she runs the Power Hour homework help program, working with the kids to track their progress and improve organizational skills.
If there is a will to be successful in this world under any circumstances, this will inspire others to do the same. Any negative pressure(s) and challenges is another opportunity for me to rise beyond my mental state, and help others push themselves above and beyond their capabilities. – Serenity
Serenity has volunteered with several community nonprofits, including Monroe House and her local food bank. She was also part of an effort to raise funds and collect supplies for military families.
After high school, Serenity plans to study criminal justice at Big Bend Community College, with hopes of becoming a police officer. She will be the first in her family to pursue a college degree.
